I have been looking for a good speech therapist for a long time and just when I was about to give up, my friend recommended me to try Corrina via Telespeech as she was offering this service.  “I met Corrina when she was a college student interning with the school speech therapist. I immediately recognized the truly special person and gifted therapist that she was. She had an upbeat, positive attitude and was passionate about helping kids. Corrina then went on to be my respite worker until she finished college. After almost 7+ years, I was so excited when she moved back to the bay area as an experienced speech therapist. At the first opportunity, we signed up as one of her first clients at Kids First Speech and Language Therapy. Corrina works HARD and is always prepared with the right material for my son. She does not grab whatever is on the shelf and try to get my son to work on that. Her sessions are tailor-made and well planned specifically for my son.  “We are truly thankful to have Corrina as our SLP for our twin boys. She has been working with them for the past year and half. Her patience and persistence is unbelievable. Her depth of knowledge in Speech & Language is incredible and she makes sure parents understand the background of what and how she is working on a goal and educates/teaches us the techniques as well. She has an arsenal of toys, puzzles and games that will entice any kid to engage actively. She designs each session to target multiple goals seamlessly with great efficiency. We feel lucky for having found such passionate and affectionate person who genuinely cares about bringing the best out in kids.

One of my sons was at single words level when we started. And now he has come a long way ,speaking in multiple sentences, playing with peers, asking questions on his own, even having short conversations. Corrina uses interesting techniques and she comes up with backup plans to switch to in case kids lose interest in an activity. The amount of preparation and thought she puts in for every session truly sets her a notch higher than any other therapist we had worked with in the past.

My other son was non-verbal when we started. Corrina had tried every single technique under the sun to fight his speech apraxia and to bring out his ability to produce sounds. True to her efforts, after trying multiple techniques, a combination of them seem to be working right now. He has started to utter the first sound of most words.  “We have gone through a number of speech therapists, and we have finally hit the jackpot with Corrina! Our son had a couple of words when we started, and now his expressive language is up to 50+. This is all thanks to Corrina!

She broke down the various stages of learning via play based teaching, and explained it to us carefully. We had tried teaching our son how to sign, and were unsuccessful. One session with Corrina and he was signing on day 2!! He was struggling with diphthongs, and with her techniques he mastered them in a week. She carefully monitors his progress, gives very detailed instructions on how to conduct the techniques ourselves.

“Corrina took on my son’s case and I cannot stop raving about how incredible she has been with my son.  My son just turned nine and was not looking forward to speech therapy at all.  After the first class, my son couldn’t wait until the next one.  Corrina made learning fun through games and simple interesting things to talk about with a young boy.  He learned so much while he had all that fun!  He even enjoyed the weekly voice homework (which was minimal).

I was extremely appreciative of Corrina’s knowledge base.  I had been asking his regular doctors for a while now about his voice and I was never given a proper answer.  Corrina called it out on day one.  We got testing done through his doctors at my request (after learning what was needed from Corrina), and she was able to adjust his goals quickly to work with the new issues.  
We have learned so much from Corrina in such a short time! 

I love that his teacher at school didn’t notice any issues with understanding my son this year!   He often catches his own mistakes these days as well!  His vocal cords are much better now because of everything Corrina has taught us.  I must say I missed the sound of my son’s real voice and to hear it again was amazing!”

Corrina has been visiting our home once a week for the past year. She brings different types of toys every week for play based therapy and my son absolutely loves it. A year ago, my son could only say simple words like, “yeah, no, ma, dad, etc.” Fast forward a year, he’s now able to say words like, “rhinoceros!” He is talking so much and continuously improving his sentence formations and articulation.

Not only has Corrina helped my son, she also taught us as parents on how to communicate more effectively with him. She has provided us the tools we needed to help him improve his speech. I will never forget the one session when we just got back from an international trip and my son was jet lagged. He had a meltdown during the session and Corrina taught me how to deal with meltdowns. It was such an eye opener and I use what I learned to this day and I am so grateful to her for it. Let’s just say that meltdowns went from a frequent event to almost non-existent.

We have been working with Corrina since few months now for my son. And we can’t say enough amazing things about her. She is really energetic and has so much knowledge. My son loves her and she really knows how to get his attention and work with him in ways I never imagined. She would always listen and address all our concerns and gave so many innovative tips and tricks to have him talk. We have tried other speech therapists in the past but feel she was the best so far. The home based approach worked great since my son is in a familiar environment.

My 6 year old daughter HAD some speech problems. She was hard to understand as she rushed to speak. After 8 month of therapy with Corrina my daughter is fixed!!! We had taken her to another company before this one for a year and she did not progress at all. Corrina is a special kind of lady that actually cared about my daughter getting better. My child at that point was almost 2.5 years old with extremely limited vocabulary in English and non-existing in our native language. She even resisted to repeat any words, or even sounds (e.g., animal, car etc.). She was also extremely frustrated with not being able to communicate her needs, which was creating meltdowns almost every day.

Corrina is fantastic, to say the least, in teaching kids in a way that is engaging and effective. She started initially to work with her in our home, but when I returned to work, she continued in my daughter’s daycare.

Not only my daughter loves her, but also the other kids in the daycare and the teachers always comment on how good she is and how she has even helped them interact with the kids.

Now, after 6 months, my daughter uses 2,3 and even 4 word sentences in English. When we started working with Corrina, it was my decision to switch to speak only in English to try to unblock her, although Corrina was always saying that bilingualism is really good. Although that was a bad decision from my side, I now teach her using the same techniques Corrina showed me and I am positive she will soon learn this language as well.

Corrina Chang is just awesome and wonderful. She brings in her knowledge and skills with a lots of energy and new toys during every visit. My son looks forward to see her each week. He gets super excited to meet her. He likes to play with her and at the same time learns so much from her. When we first started, although he had a lot of words he was not able to put them together. But now, only in a few sessions; he has already framing so many meaningful sentences. He even manages to put 5-6 words together. We as parents really thank you for everything.
